Your Storage Problem Is Really a Retention Problem

Storage Almost Full.

I used to get this notification a lot.

And when that happens, you have two choices: free up space or buy more.

But the truth is:

No amount of cloud storage will ever satisfy you.

In Italy, there’s a saying: “la coperta è corta.”

It means, “the blanket is short.”

You either cover your head or your feet, but never both.

The problem is, we collect more than we can handle. Photos, files, and apps pile up, drowning us. Soon, we don’t know what’s worth keeping or deleting.

You don’t need less data. You need better retention.

If you’re not going to post that vacation picture in the next 30 days, it’s probably just sitting there, forgotten, in the cloud. Not using that screenshot this week? You won’t ever. Did you save a log file but forget why? You’ve already lost the context - it’s dead weight.

If you don’t remember why you saved it, there’s no reason to keep it. Period.

Set yourself a retention window - 30 days, 60 days, you decide. If you haven’t used or needed something by then, hit DELETE. No second guessing.

So, don’t limit what you capture.

Limit what you keep.
